The Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications, Mr Lowry, confirmed grant aid of £407,000 for the proposed 15 acre development at Coolbawn Quay.

It will include a 19th century rural Irish village offering top class accommodation, leisure and outdoor facilities, an 80 berth marina and a language centre.

Indoor facilities will include a bath house, children's club, mini cinema and creche. The language centre will be modelled on a 19th century Irish schoolhouse.

Grant aid is being provided through Shannon Development. The developer is a Dublin businessman, Mr Kevin Brophy, originally from Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary.
