A mortar bomb dating back to the siege of Limerick in 1690 was found during excavation work on Limerick's main drainage scheme. It was found in the Abbey river yesterday and taken to the ordinance workshop at the Naval base in Haulbowline by Army bomb disposal experts from Collins Barracks, Cork.
