ANOTHER case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy has been confirmed by the Department of Agriculture, writes Sean MacConnell, Agriculture Correspondent.disease confirmed in the Republic since 1988.
A Department spokesman said this was the 14th case in the national herd this year. It was discovered in a six-year-old cow in a herd of 127 animals. To date, the Department has spent Pounds 13 million slaughtering more than 18,000 animals in herds where BSE is found.
