Some 116 candidates have been nominated to contest 43 seats on the five panels in the Seanad elections.on August 6th. The National University of Ireland and the University of Dublin will elect six candidates. The Taoiseach will nominate the remaining 11 senators to the 60-seat chamber. Among them will be four PDs who have agreed with Fianna Fail not to contest the elections.
