Two masked men wielding baseball bats held up the staff at a credit union in Ballyneety, five miles from Limerick city, on Thursday night. The raiders arrived in a green Ford Mondeo car. They threatened the staff, jumped the counter and ransacked the premises.

They got away with about £1,000 in cash and some cheques. No one was injured. Gardai believe the car was driven by a woman with dark hair. It was later found abandoned on the Old Cork Road.
