A judge said a collision that claimed the life of a foreign tourist in west Cork last month was “as full-on a head-on collision as one can imagine”.

Judge James McNulty handed down a €1,000 fine to Arjun Telicherry Shenoy (26), living in Heron’s Wood, Carrigaline, convicting him of careless driving.

Back-seat passenger Sanghita Das, from Kolkata, India, died after the silver Opel Zafira hire car collided with a black Hyundai Santa Fe SUV in which a family of seven English tourists were travelling on April 4th, 2011, at Rosscarbery.
