Daniel McConnell has been appointed editor of the Business Post, the news group has announced.
Mr McConnell, from Stillorgan in Co Dublin, has been political editor of the Irish Examiner since 2015 and previously held the role of group political correspondent and chief reporter at Independent News & Media, now Mediahuis Ireland.
He succeeds Richie Oakley, who stepped down from the role in October to join public relations group Murray, where he is director of its corporate and financial practice.
Mr McConnell (43) is a graduate of University College Dublin and Dublin City University and now lives in Glasnevin.

He is the author of Hell At the Gates (Mercier Press, 2016), which explored the downfall of the Brian Cowen government, while he has also served as a stand-in presenter on Today FM’s The Last Word with Matt Cooper.
He was named journalist of the year and political journalist of the year at the Newsbrands Ireland journalism awards in November 2022.
The company behind Business Post, which was founded in 1989 as the Sunday Business Post, is majority owned by businessman Enda O’Coineen, who acquired the newspaper and its digital platforms in 2018. The wider group also owns events business iQuest and polling company RedC.
