Water and salt portable fuel cell, the projector with a phone built-in and a stylus with its own USB adapter

MyFC JAQ (above)
As an alternative to solar-powered recharging, MyFC has harnessed some smart chemistry to design this new off-grid fuel cell for mobile devices. There is an outer pouch which takes an insertable card. This simply contains water and salt. Once you slide in the card, a chemical reaction kicks in (through a proton exchange membrane, if you must know), and you're powered up for a 2400mAh charge for your personal electronics.

The JAQ will come with a set of cards and you'll be able buy more online; it's all made from recycled materials – MyFC is Swedish after all – so the card can be disposed of as regular waste. From about €100, due this spring. myfcpower.com

ZTE Spro 2 Projector

There are quite a few pico projectors on the market now for a pocket- sized, travelling film show or presentation. Some are integrated into smartphones, others use the phone or tablet as the content player. The Spro 2 reverses that thinking and is a pico projector with a phone built in, so it can stream its own content or play off the 16GB of internal storage or various SD or ports.

It is controlled via a touchscreen panel and runs Android, so all the Google Apps run too. It is claimed you'll get three hours play from a full charge, even with a decent little 200 lumens projection. Price TBC, it should be on the market this summer. en.zte.com.cn

Connector Stylus

We do love a gadgety gizmo here. This is a touchscreen stylus, a ballpoint pen and it has got Apple Lightning and Micro USB adapters with a standard USB plug. The charge cable is hidden in the barrel and it should be able to handle syncing data as well as charging, but with Cupertino-ware you can't always be sure it'll work every time. €23 from Maplin stores and online.
