Family packageKelly's Resort Hotel, in Rosslare, Co Wexford, has organised a Dynamic Events package for families. It features a variety of outdoor activities.
Try clay-pigeon shooting, target archery and falconry, February 15th-20th. Individual instruction will be provided for any of the activities at reduced rates, or take part in a family treasure hunt around historic Wexford. For midweek break rates, e-mail info@kellys.ie, see www.kellys.ie or call 053-9132114.
Go wild
How about kayaking down the roaring, crocodile-infested Nile? Or breaking the Irish skydiving formation record? Too easy? Then try tackling five-metre waves on a windsurfer or hurtling down a rock-strewn hill on a mountain bike. Last year's Wee Adventure Film Festival featured 16 films, on subjects including base jumping, kayaking and bouldering, that captured the essence of adventure sports. The organisers are looking for amateur films, up to 10 minutes long, for the 2009 festival, which takes place on February 13th at the Sugar Club in Dublin. See www.waff.ie or www.mountaineering.ie.
Snowdrop walk
Why not take the chance to see the stunning carpet of snowdrops on a walk around Argory estate, in Co Tyrone, on February 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd? The National Trust- owned estate, near Dungannon, features a neoclassical house that has barely changed since 1900. It is surrounded by wooded riverside grounds. The walks start at 2pm from Argory Courtyard and finish at 5pm. Afternoon tea will be on sale in Lady Ada's tea room.
