Phoenix Park to remain open to non-concertgoers

Visitors can attend zoo and Farmleigh

The Phoenix Park will remain open for use by those not attending a Justin Timberlake concert today but traffic restrictions will apply from the afternoon.

Those looking to take advantage of the sunshine will have access to the park’s grounds and to Dublin Zoo and Farmleigh through the Castleknock Gate, Cabra Gate, Parkgate Street or North Circular Road.

The Chapelizod Gate is entry only, and the Islandbridge Gate is exit only.

There will be some road closures. Outside the park the Ashtown roundabout to Phoenix Park Way will be closed from 4pm to midnight, while inside Gough roundabout to Mountjoy Cross and Mountjoy Cross to the Cabra Gate will be closed from 3pm to 12.30am.

From midnight last night Garda no-parking cones were placed at Chesterfield Avenue between Mountjoy Cross and Phoenix Monument, on Furze Road, on Ordnance Survey Road between Mountjoy Cross to Upper Glen Road, from the Cabra Gate to Mountjoy Cross, and on Acres Road from Phoenix Monument to Chapelizod Gate.

These will remain in place for the duration of the concert. The zoo car park will remain open.

Spectators
About 40,000 spectators are expected to attend the concert.

Gardaí will be manning all gates and, depending on the numbers of people in the vicinity of the entrances, may put additional traffic diversions in place.

Diversions are unlikely to be in operation before 2pm.
