Our wedding story: From a Sydney bar to a Kildare sing-song

Dublin man Kevin Doyle, an engineer, moved to Australia in 2011 and met Katie Kossian, a lawyer from Sydney, when they were both between jobs and working in a bar together.

Their first date was a year later and at Christmas 2014, Kevin proposed with a ring under the tree.

Having visited Ireland together, the couple decided to show Katie's Australian family and their American and European friends what an Irish wedding was like.

With help from home, they planned their wedding for May 27th, 2016.

The bride's mother walked her up the aisle and the couple was married by Fr Tony Coote in the Church of St Therese in the groom's native Mount Merrion.

The groom’s brother Philip was his best man along with groomsman Cillian O’Connell, a school friend who also lives in Sydney.

Katie's friend Samantha Yousof was a bridesmaid with Kevin's cousin Shona Kelly, who had spent time with the couple when she travelled around Australia.

Afterwards everyone travelled to Co Kildare for the reception at The K Club where the Bentley Boys played before a sing-song kept everyone awake until the next morning.

The newlyweds' first dance was to Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.

Katie and Kevin honeymooned in Tuscany and Croatia.
