Our Wedding Story: A surprise ad in ‘The Irish Times’

Eimear, from Ranelagh, was studying English and French at Trinity College Dublin when she met Morgan, from Malahide, who was doing his degree in French and Sociology. Both moved to London, where Eimear works in consultancy and Morgan is employed by Samsung, and last year on a holiday to Spain they got engaged and planned their wedding for 19th April, 2015.

A surprise for the couple that morning was an ad placed in The Irish Times by both sets of parents – Brian and Mary Nolan and Paul and Ann Evans – wishing their children happiness on their wedding day.

They were married in the church of Saint Mary and Saint Patrick in Avoca with a reception afterwards for 150 in Clonwilliam House.

Eimear’s dress was from Brown’s in London and Morgan wore a Burberry suit.

The bride’s sister Claire and her friends Ruth Kearney and Kate Leahy were bridesmaids. Morgan’s best man was David McCullough and the groomsmen were schoolfriends Cian O’Shaughnessy and Darragh Kiernan.

The couple's friend Cathy played Widmung (which means "Dedication") by Clara Schumann on the piano.

The bride's cousin Naseem sang Bob Dylan's To Make You Feel My Love, Ave Maria and Hillsong United's Oceans (Where Feet May Fail).

Naseem’s mother Barbara and Eimear’s other aunt Aideen played a Chopin duet on piano and violin during the signing of the registry.

The bride's brother Daniel read Who Knows if the Moon's a Balloon by EE Cummings. Morgan's sister Kate and friend Caitriona also read. Kate Feeney – who introduced the couple to one another – made a speech that, said the bride, "was definitely a highlight for us both."

Their first dance was to Sam Cooke's Wonderful World.

Caroline from the Wedding Cake Boutique made the cake – based on an image Eimear found on Pinterest – and Joy’s Flowers in Ranelagh arranged the flowers, lanterns running down the aisle, and wreaths for the flower-girls’ hair.

The newlyweds honeymooned in Cape Town and Mauritius.
