Foodies with time to spare on a Friday morning can take part in a new culinary experience called the Dublin Tasting Trail.

Lasting a leisurely two and a half hours, and led by Eveleen or Pamela Coyle of Fabulous Food Trails, it’s both a tasting and cultural walk around lesser- known parts of Dublin, and even for those who think they know the city, it is full of surprises.

On a recent trail, I joined five others and our trail took us from cheesemongers and delicatessens to bakers, butchers, baristas and a historic pub for a shot of 12-year-old whiskey. The trails start on Friday mornings at 10am at a city centre meeting point, groups are kept small and the cost is €45.

Gift vouchers for the trail are available at fabulousfoodtrails.com or tel: 01-4971245.
