Belle Epoque style

An interesting Belle Epoque necklace which belonged to the late Hildegard Hayes, Baroness von Hobe of Gelting, the wife of Dublin born artist and past president of the RHA, Ernest Hayes, will be offered for sale on February 27th in O’Reilly’s auction rooms.

The diamond necklace features a bow suspending a 3.29ct diamond and there is a portrait by Hayes of his wife wearing it (pictured below, courtesy of Whytes). O’Reilly’s jewellery auctions take place on a monthly basis in Francis Street, Dublin 8. The piece carries an estimate of €5,000-€7,000 and is in its original box marked Joh.Dix Bonn.
