Fashion design graduate Sinéad Crilly and Conor McEvoy (28), an electrician, are both from Lurgan, Co Armagh, and were married on April 21st in St Fachanan’s chapel Kilfenora, Co Clare.
Sinéad’s parents are Bridh and Kevin Crilly and Conor’s are Ann and Johnny McEvoy.
Sinéad's father worked for the Geological Survey of Ireland and, while travelling around the country, Kilfenora became a favourite spot for family holidays. "We always get grief going down there because that's where Fr Ted was filmed – because we're the Crillys everyone finds it so funny," laughed Sinéad who wants to become an art teacher.
The couple met at a disco in Aghagallon in 2006 and got engaged in Barbados.
Vaughan’s Bar and Barn in Co Clare was the venue for the reception that welcomed 125 guests. “The Vaughans are family friends and were incredible,” said the bride.
“We were on a pretty tight budget and were so lucky our family all chipped in,” she added. “We spray-painted old wine bottles and stuck candles in them. Table runners and pom-poms were made from fabric I bought on Etsy. My friend’s mum, aunties and grannies collected their old jars for the cocktails and tins for the floral centre-pieces.”
Galway wedding band, Raindance, played throughout the night and the newlyweds had their first dance to Lover of the Light by Mumford and Sons.
The groomsmen were the groom’s best friend Nathan McConville; his brother Ciarán McEvoy; the bride’s brother Peter Crilly; and childhood friend James McCabe.
Sinéad’s twin sister Sorcha Crilly and Conor’s Áine were the bridesmaids. Her niece Kaila Moore, wearing Dior, was the flower-girl and page-boy was tuxedoed nephew Oscar Crilly-Murray.
Wedding presents included music during the ceremony from the bride's cousins Erin and Brenna King who sang a mix of songs including God Only Knows by the Beach Boys, Lady of Knock and The Prayer; Sinéad's aunt Patricia McStay baked the red velvet and chocolate fudge wedding cake; and brother-in-law Michel Burch, a photographer took the photos.
Sinéad and Conor, who live in Lurgan, honeymooned in Koh Samui in Thailand.
