Routes to avoid during the week ahead
DUBLIN: National Car Free Day today, so motorists are encouraged to use public transport.
On Sunday September 26th, Clondalkin Athletics Club will hold a 5K Road Race at noon, via Islandbridge and Chapelizod. Start at Bridgewater House on Conyngham Road, and will finish opposite St Marys Gate on Chapelizod Road beween 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m.
Resurfacing works on N31 from Brighton Ave to Coal Quay Bridge until mid-October. Roads affected are Seapoint Ave, Longford Terrace, Old Dunleary, Dunleary Rd and Crofton Rd. One-way system in place. Traffic on N31 only from Dún Laoghaire to Blackrock: vehicles from HSS Ferry unaffected. Traffic accessing Dún Laoghaire and Ferryport will divert via Temple Hill, Monkstown Rd, Monkstown Crescent, Longford Place, Dunleary Hill, Cumberland Street and Clarence St and thus to Crofton Rd.
WICKLOW: Traffic one lane on N11 from north end of Kilmacanogue to St Valery's bridge north of Dargle near Enniskerry junction. Northbound traffic reduced to single lane. Major delays likely.
KILDARE: Resurfacing on N9 north of Castledermot at Hobartstown. Single lane traffic and stop-go system.
KILKENNY: Resurfacing on Patrick St/Patrick St Upper from the Parade to Kells Rd. Traffic diverts via the Parade, Castle Road and Nuncio Road.
Works on N9 in Mullinavat. Traffic lights between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Allow extra time.
LAOIS: Road closures and detours on N7/M7 at Ballydavis and The Heath in Portlaoise, for completion of works at Ballydavis interchange and south tie-in of M7 Heath Mayfield motorway. Alternative routes signposted.
OFFALY: N62 closed from Crinkle Rd Junction to Military Rd junction. Diversions via the back road to Crinkle and Military Rd.
LOUTH: N2 through Ardee closed. Bridge Street, Ardee between junction with John St/William St and junction with Tierney St/Boat Trench closed for 160 metres. Delays of half an hour expected. Diversions in operation
GALWAY: Works on N18 Galway to Limerick Road at Clarinbridge - expect delays.
Works on N6 at Coldwood: stop and go system in place, between 9.30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
KERRY: Races in Listowel until Saturday. Racecourse is five minutes from town centre off Ballybunion Rd (R553) and main Limerick to Tralee Road (N69)- expect delays .
WATERFORD: Michael St closed for roadworks. Local diversions in place. Delays likely.
TIPPERARY: Road strengthening works on a four km stretch of N24 from Cahir bypass towards Bansha.
LIMERICK: Road between Main Street in Croom and Honeypound Cross closed for building a foul sewer and surface water sewer. Diversions signposted.
CORK: Resurfacing on Parnell Place and Washington St each night. Diversions will be in place.
Sullivans Quay restricted to single lane traffic, for work on the quay wall.
