Routes to avoid around the country over the Christmas holiday period
DUBLIN: Late night DARTs until Saturday, December 21st. Late trains operate on the following nights: 19th, 20th and 21st. Northbound from Pearse Station at 01.00 and 02.30, serving all stations to Howth except Tara St. Return from Howth at 1.35 a.m. serving all stations to Pearse except Tara St.
Southbound from Connolly at 01.00 and 02.30, serving all stations to Bray, except Tara St and Grand Canal Dock. Passengers for Greystones transfer at Bray. Return from Bray at 01.45 serving all stations to Connolly except Grand Canal Dock and Tara St. Tickets at DART stations or at Pearse and Connolly on night of travel, for €5.
MEATH: There are races in Navan on Saturday, December 21. The first race is at 12.35 p.m. and the last at 3.35 p.m. Extra traffic on the N7, Naas Dual Carriageway. The racecourse is off the dual carriageway, about 30 minutes from Dublin. Bus Éireann is running a service from Dublin to the Races. Buses will depart 90 minutes before the start of the meeting. Tickets €12 return: book in advance at Busáras or the Bus Éireann ticket desk in the Bus Átha Cliath office at 59 Upper O'Connell Street.
KILDARE: Santa's Kingdom, Punchestown, open until December 23rd. From 09.30 and last shuttle departs at 19.30. This will add extra traffic to Punchestown, particularly on N7, Naas Road.
CORK: Park and ride service until Saturday, January 4th, except Christmas Day, St Stephen's Day, December 29th and New Year's Day. Departures from Victoria Cross to Grand Parade at 08.30 (Monday to Saturday) and from 10.30 Sundays. Last service from Grand Parade at 18.15.
Free parking at Kingsley Site Victoria Cross every day and at County Hall Car Park on Saturdays and Sundays. Return fares €3 adult, €1.50 child and €5 family.
Roadworks at junction with Western Rd and Donovan's Rd. No through traffic from College Rd to Western Rd. N25 layout changed on Cork side of Youghal.
LIMERICK: Limerick-bound traffic from Shannon onto the Ballycasey Roundabout to the new road to join the N18 atinterchange at Bunratty. No longer possible to exit for Limerick from the Old Concrete Road. Major roadworks on Ennis Road at Ivan's.
WATERFORD: new traffic arrangement on Gratton Quay and Bridge Street. All traffic from Gratton Quay heading for Bridge St or in the direction of the Clock Tower must turn left at the Bridge and proceed across the bridge, rounding the roundabout at the train station and back across the Bridge. No right turn from Bridge Street onto the Quay.
