Opel has released official pictures of the second generation Zafira. The car is due to be launched officially at the Geneva Motor Show next month and will be here in July.
As reported in Motors as far back as March last year when we spotted the new Zafira testing in Scandinavia, the new car has a bigger interior, a new panorama roof system and seven engine variants.
The current Zafira has been the best-selling MPV in the Irish market, despite competition from the likes of the seven-seater Renault Grand Scenic and Ford Focus C-Max.
When the Zafira was launched in 1999 it was the first MPV with a third row of seats that could be completely folded down and stowed away. The new car will feature the same Flex-7 seating system, but with a panorama roof with storage compartments.
The new Zafira range will feature three diesel and four petrol engines from the ECOTEC family with power outputs of 100 to 200 bhp. The top-of-the-line engine is the 197 bhp 2-litre turbo, taking the Zafira to a maximum speed of around 200 km/h (137mph).
Opel's new 1.9-litre common-rail turbo-diesel engine joins the line-up. Prices of the new Zafira will be announced closer to the anticipated July launch date.
