DUCATI IS preparing to launch a 1400cc muscular street bruiser motorcycle.

Dubbed the Vyper, rumour has it that this burly new machine is already being tested at the company’s factory in Bologna.

The Italian beauty will feature a version of the Testastretta engine with a 240-section rear tyre mounted in a big, hollow- section swingarm.

Slated for release in 2010, the Vyper will make around 170h and wear the standard Ducati trellis frame. The Vyper will mark a move by Ducati into the wider motorcycle market.

A NEAT new carbon- reducing valve promises to reduce your motorcycle’s engine emissions by up to 80 per cent.

The valve, called InTech, takes just 10 minutes to fit and has been developed by Urbane Racing. It works by reducing the piston’s down-stroke pressure.

It is, says Urbane Racing, “essentially a vacuum control unit . . . it decreases the resistance and allows the engine to spin more freely, giving a cleaner burn and more power”.

According to the manufacturer, it’s “most effective in reducing the emission of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, unlike the catalytic converter that needs to reach and maintain its operating temperature to remain effective”.

Urbane Racing adds that the valve can also be used to adjust engine braking.
