Disabled Drivers Motorshow coming to the RDS in October

Information and education event is free to all

The Disabled Drivers Motorshow and Conference, organised by the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland (DDAI) will take place at the RDS, Dublin, over the weekend of October 4th to 6th. Both a motorshow and an event designed to educate and inform, entry is free.

Exhibitors include Skoda MSL Park Motors, Renault Ireland, Hyundai Ireland, Toyota Crossings Motor Centre, Fiat Kelly Mobility, Rathfarnham Ford Volksvagen, MSL Grange Motors, and OC Cars as well as the Irish Wheelchair Association, PARFIT Conversions, Motability Ireland, Freedom Mobility and Back 2 Mobility. The Revenue Commissioners will also be on hand to explain the car tax relief scheme for people with disabilities.

Key speakers will include Prof Des O’Neill, director for Traffic Medicine at the Road Safety Authority; and Barry Reid, MAATS (motoring advice and tuition services) support officer with the Irish Wheelchair Association, who will speak about the best routes to, or back to, driving for a person with a disability.

Bob Appleyard, technical adviser at Unwin Safety Systems, will discuss the relative merits of wheelchair-to-seat transfer systems. Ken Fox, chief executive of the Disabled Drivers Association will talk about the current funding situation for disabled driving programmes.
