Three shops for Dixons

UK electrical giant Dixons is preparing to open at least three new outlets in Dublin over the coming months

UK electrical giant Dixons is preparing to open at least three new outlets in Dublin over the coming months. Within a month of announcing that its first Irish store will be in the Jervis Centre at Mary Street, the company has agreed leasing terms for two more shops at Blanchardstown Town Centre and The Square in Tallaght.

Dixons stunned the retail market when it paid a record premium of £500,000 for the space booked by Fosters Menswear at the Jervis Centre. Dixons will be paying a rent of around £165,000 for each of the 5,000-square-foot stores in Blanchardstown and Tallaght. The company's agent, Lambert Smith Hampton, is understood to be in negotiations for further outlets.

Dixons's sister companies, Currys and PC World, are also on the look out in the Dublin area for retail warehouse space of about 25,000 square feet for each of the companies.

In Tallaght, Heatons has leased an additional 1,000 square feet adjacent to its current unit. Jones Lang Wootton had been seeking a rent of £50,000 for the space.
