WHILE RECENT signs may show that Dublin properties could be turning a corner, successful sales results down the country are very heartening, as they point to a wider, much needed lift. Pigeon Park House, a fine Georgian property on 140 acres near Kilkenny city was one such property this week when it sold for €2.575 million – a substantial €700,000 above the initial reserve of €1.8 million.
According to auctioneer Ed Donohoe of Donohoe Properties, more than 100 people attended the auction, and from the off there was brisk bidding until it sold in its entirety to Pat Gannon in trust for a client. Donohoe adds that while this was a great sale, equally encouraging have been good prices achieved for a number of small agricultural holdings in recent weeks.
