The latest development from the Durkan Group is a small enclave of nine four-bedroom homes in the seaside town of Greystones, Co Wicklow. Located on Church Lane, on the site of Sillan Lodge, a now-demolished former 1970s B&B, the proximity to the town is one of the big selling points of the development.

Designed by PD Lane Architects, the high-end homes consist of two semi-detached four-bedroom houses and seven detached homes, also with four bedrooms. From the Knightsbridge Collection, the Noel Dempsey kitchens have hand-painted oak drawers, quartz splashbacks and AEG appliances with a Rangemaster 1000mm induction range. "The details and design are 'a tip of the cap' to the homes built locally more than 100 years ago," according to developer Neil Durkan.

Interiors, which have two reception rooms alongside an open-plan kitchen/dining space at garden level, have been designed with flair by Elaine Jerrard of Elk House Interiors, who installed oak flooring throughout the ground floor, with Villeroy and Boch sanitary ware and Brian Frew bespoke vanity units and mirrors in the bathrooms.

The properties have Carlson Scandinavian optiwood timber windows and patio screens with high-performance glazing and electrically operated roof lights in the kitchen extension and on the second floor.

With the current price of electricity, oil and gas, the A2 Ber will be of interest to many buyers. The houses have ground floor underfloor heating and low-energy radiators with high energy efficient Joule/Samsung air-to-water heat pump central heating and multizone controls. All houses are fitted with a MVHR (mechanical ventilation heat recovery) unit which helps maximise the efficiency of the heat pump by creating an ambient temperature and providing a fresh air supply.

"To have this type of detached housing so close to a main street is extraordinarily rare," says David Browne, director of new homes at Savills. "Most new housing consists of three- to four-bedroom semi-detached housing estates and now, because of density, two-bedroom duplexes are now much more common. Add to this their A rating – which is proving very popular with older downsizers – and you can understand why the four-bedroom houses at Sillan are generating lots of interest."

The nine properties have been launched on the market through Savills. The two semi-detached four-bedroom houses, measuring 160sq m (1,722sqft) are seeking €995,000, and at 205sq m (2,206sq ft), the detached four-bedroom homes are listed at €1.35 million.
