The most recent sale on Eglinton Road, Dublin 4, took place last month when number 85 went for auction. The AMV was €1.8 million and it sold under the hammer for €2.6 million. That house is an imposing Victorian redbrick in need of substantial renovation to turn it into a family home.

Now a house nearly opposite that strong seller has a for sale sign and, not surprisingly, as this is a road where house styles vary widely, number 72 is a very different proposition.
