Exceptionally fine holiday homes in Co Cavan's lake district are going on the market this weekend before the boating and fishing seasons wind down for another year.

Belturbet estate agent Sean Martin will be handling the sale of the houses which are to go on the market from €480,000.

The two-storey homes are spacious with 255.4 sq m (2,750 sq ft), stylish and comfortable with two handsome reception rooms and five bedrooms. Most interest is likely to centre on the double height livingroom which is focussed on the water and catches the sun for much of the day.

There is an overhead gallery off the livingroom which serves as a sunroom and provides uninterrupted views over two ancient waterways. The well-fitted kitchen doubles as a diningroom and is ideal for entertaining on a fairly lavish scale. Three of the five bedrooms are en suite and the main bathroom includes a high-tech steam shower designed to generate renewed energy after a trying day on the lake or the canal.
