If you think all it takes to be an estate agent these days is a flash car, a nearly fashionable suit and a good line in guff, then take a look at the points race. Would-be students of the Auctioneering, Valuing and Estate Agency course in DIT have to be a reasonably bookish lot. First round places are being offered to students who got 370 points, the same number required to do Greek in Trinity, Religion and Music in Mater Dei or Irish Studies in the University of Limerick. The points level is higher than for most other diploma courses but oddly given the busy state of the business they have dropped since last year when would-be auctioneers needed 385 points.
