Key pieces in Blackrock summer sale

A boudoir grand piano, silver and art with reasonable reserves to be found at Adams

Anyone passing the window of Adams auctioneers in Blackrock village recently may have been admiring the very smart boudoir grand piano which is to be seen there.

The Bluthner instrument is also to be found in the catalogue for Adams Blackrock’s summer sale which is taking place on Tuesday July 24th (Lot 159, €900–€1,300). The auction of 335 lots includes furniture, paintings, silver, jewellery and decorative objects, many of which will be sold without reserve.

Should you not have the space for a grand piano – even of the boudoir variety – there's an alternative in the shape of an ebony Yamaha upright (Lot 185, €800–€1,200).

The furniture in the auction includes a Louis Philippe desk in kingwood, with a frieze drawer, on cabriole ormolu-mounted supports (Lot 290, €2,000–€3,000), a Venetian rectangular mirror surmounted by foliate motifs (Lot 112, €400–€700), a gilt overmantle mirror with arched foliate cresting (Lot 307, €300–€500) and a William IV walnut sofa stool on carved, fluted legs (Lot 38, €500–€700).
