An original oil painting for the frontispiece of an edition of JM Synge's play, The Playboy of the Western World by Sean Keating sold for €65,000 (€35,000-€45,000); Group Portrait of a Family, with Mountains Beyond by Joseph Patrick Haverty €42,000 (30,000-50,000); Portrait of Vivian Hugh Smith (1867-1956), later 1st Baron Bicester of Tusmore Park by Sir William Orpen €26,000 (€10,000-€15,000); The Consecration of The Roman Catholic Church of St Mary's, Pope's Quay, Cork by James Mahoney €19,000 (€8,000-€10,000); a 2ft high bronze maquette (model) of the sculpture of poet WB Yeats (in Stephen Street, Sligo) by Rowan Gillespie €17,000 (€8,000 - €10,000); the Freedom of Dublin (certificate in a presentation cabinet) awarded to artist Sir John Lavery in 1935 €3,200 (€2,000-€3,000).

De Veres Important Irish Art auction at Buswell's Hotel, Dublin. 75 per cent of lots sold. Ambition II (sculpture) by Rowan Gillespie €16,000 (€4,000-€6,000); Beyond The Bog by Patrick Collins €15,000 (€8,000-€12,000); and, Horse With Jockey Up by Basil Blackshaw €4,000 (€4,000-€6,000). Hell for Leather by Peter Curling, estimated at €25,000-€35,000, failed to sell.

The Old Landing Place by Jack B Yeats €28,000 (€25,000-€35,000); Barmaid by Daniel O'Neill €23,500 (€20,000-€30,000); Resting Tinkers by Gerard Dillon €18,000 (€20,000 - €30,000); Window sill by William John Leech €15,500 (€6,000-€8,000); The Piper by Brian Vallely €8,000 (€8,000-€12,000); Poolbeg Light, Dublin by John Doherty €6,000 (€6,000- €8,000); Horse and Jockey by Margaret Stokes €3,000 (€1,500-€2,500). Among the unsold was The Harbour, Roundstone by Letitia Hamilton (€10,000 -€15,000); while The Hurley Players by William Conor (€4,000- €6,000) was withdrawn.
