Art auction in Kelly’s Hotel, Rosslare

The seaside resort of Rosslare, Co Wexford is likely to be busy next weekend ahead of the first bank holiday of summer. An art and antiques auction with almost 400 lots will take place in Kelly's Resort Hotel on Sunday afternoon, May 3rd at 1pm, hosted by Dolan's auctioneers. Viewing begins in the hotel on Friday.

Dolan’s said the auction includes “20th Century and contemporary Irish art, together with select items of furniture, silver, military medals, ceramics, books and 19th century photographs”.

The auction includes a wide selection of affordable paintings in the auction.

Among them are works by Tony O'Malley, Mainie Jellett, Mark O'Neill, Basil Blackshaw, Neil Shawcross, Gerard Dillion, John Shinnors, Cecil Maguire, Sean Keating, Arthur Maderson, Trevor Geoghegan, Ivan Sutton, Kenneth Webb, Arthur Armstrong, George Campbell, James le Jeune, Norah McGuinness, Markey Robinson, Charles Harper, Charles Lamb, Graham Knuttel, Lady Kate Dobbin, Fr Jack Hanlon, Nano Reid, Manus Walsh, Brian Ballard and Robert Egginton.

Among the highlights is a large Mark O'Neill painting, Crimson Collection (€6,000-€7,500) which auctioneer Niall Dolan said was "one of the biggest and best of his paintings" that they'd ever offered. (It's on the catalogue cover.) Visitors to the hotel can also view Kelly's permanent collection of art – one of the best in any Irish hotel.
