Comings and goings in Sandycove as legacy of developer duo continues

It's all change on Ballygihen Avenue, a narrow suburban road between Fitzgerald's pub and the sea in Sandycove, Co Dublin. An Bord Pleanála recently rejected local objections and overturned Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council's refusal of plans by Finisterre Developments to build four three-storey homes on a site formerly occupied by two bungalows halfway down the road. Rees Kavanagh – a relative of Sandycove developer Michelle Kavanagh – is behind Finisterre's plan, and he paid €1.775 million for the site in 2018

Meanwhile, Ossory Lodge, on the corner of Ballygihen and the coast road, is back for sale through Lisney for €3 millionjust under two years after being sold for €2.9 million to aviation financier Doug Brennan. Brennan also bought Fastnet, on the corner opposite Ossory, for €2.1 million at the same time, and is understood to be living there while renovations on his other house, Beulah, on Harbour Road in Dalkey, are going on.

Ossory and Fastnet were both part of the portfolio of Sandycove properties owned by Robin Power and Michelle Kavanagh until their sale in June 2017. Meanwhile, Power and Michelle Kavanagh have withdrawn Cove Lodge, a house on the coast road a few doors down from Ballygihen Avenue, nearly a year after putting it up for sale for €3.5 million. It's understood that it is to be rented again.
