A home for less than €300k in Dublin? Here’s 30 to get you started

We’ve found a property in every postal district in the capital, from sleek apartments to tiny houses in need of total refurbishment

Buying a home is one of life’s great milestones, but with the rate at which house prices have risen in the capital in recent years, many young buyers have seen prospective homes move out of their price bracket.

The average list price for homes in Dublin city stood at just under €380,000 at the end of June but a hunt through the Residential Property Price Register shows a significant number of transactions across the city at prices between €250,000 and €300,000.

And supply at this level of the market is increasing: the number of new-to-market properties in Dublin priced under €300k, listed on the myhome website since June 1st stands at 1,062 compared to 927 in the same period last year – an increase of 15% This gives first time buyers a greater choice, at a relatively quiet time in the property calendar, before the autumn selling season gets underway.

What can you get in this price bracket and where? We’ve found a property in every postal district in the capital, from sleek apartments to tiny houses in need of complete refurbishment. While renovation costs are expensive, making buyers far more circumspect about going for a fixer-upper, it can make sense to invest in a property that can be improved over time, rather than one that is in walk-in condition. Have a look at what is on offer.
