Seven things to do this week

TODAY Ocean to City is Ireland's largest rowing race, with 500 rowers going 15 nautical miles. Currachs, Dragon boats, Bantry Bay longboats and even Indian kayaks race from Crosshaven to Roches Point and back into the quays of Cork city. The event is organised by Meitheal Mara, the traditional boat-builders, and is expected to become an annual event. www.oceantocity.com.

TOMORROW Lakeview Gardens, one of Ireland's few organically-run gardens, offers a good enough reason to visit Co Cavan, but a new exhibition being held there makes them a must-see. Until Monday, Gregoire de Boysson presents his collection of beautiful objects and fabrics from all over Europe including jewellery, tableware, glass, clothes and pewter knives. This international craft exhibition is open from 11am-7pm.

MONDAY It's that time again when the sun shines and Mná na hÉireann line out for the annual Flora women's mini-marathon in Dublin. But it's not half as much fun without the noisy supporters. Take up your positions at vantage points all over the city this afternoon. www.womensminimarathon.ie.

TUESDAY Tomorrow the newly-refurbished Savoy Cinema on O'Connell Street celebrates a belated 75th birthday. To celebrate, the cinema has been showing a special season of classic films and today it's that classic gangster movie Goodfellas. WEDNESDAY Lara Marlowe will deliver a talk on globalisation and the EU, as well as launch a new book by Fintan O'Toole and Tony Kinsella called Post Washington: Why America Can't Rule The World, at the National Library tonight, at 6pm. A five-star event for the cognoscenti.

THURSDAY Expect a scandalicious amount of booty shaking down at Lansdowne Road tonight when Destiny's Child take to the stage. Tickets for their Destiny Fulfilled and Lovin' It world tour are €49.50-€64.50. Soulful support is courtesy of ex-Fame Academy competitor, Lemar. 6.30pm.

FRIDAY The painter Kenneth Webb will showcase his new exhibition Memories of Cork in the new O'Callaghan Properties headquarters at Lavitts Quay, Cork. The exhibition runs until June 18th with work from Susan Webb, Clare Cryan and Sara Sue McNeill also on show. Róisín Ingle
