James Allen, who founded the Belfast Print workshop, and his wife Sophie Aghajanian are two highly regarded painters and printers on the Northern Irish art scene.
Allen is known for his etchings and monoprints of the sea, Aghajanian for her soft evocations of light and shadow. Here, however, is an example of collaboration at work. The picture above began as an Allen seascape and ended with a splash of Aghajanian colour. A perfect balance. A new exhibition of their work is worth a gander at the Graphic Studio Gallery in Temple Bar, Dublin 2. It runs until September 26th. www.graphicstudiodublin.com.
