Brookwood Pottery fired up over crowdfunding campaign

Fairview potter hopes to create open-access pottery workshop so others can learn the craft

Elaine Fallon set up her first pottery studio in the garage at the end of her garden in Fairview, Dublin 3, in 2012. It was from this humble space that she launched her pottery range, Brookwood Pottery, and where she continues to create today. "I love being a potter and for over 20 years I've worked with clay nearly every day," says Fallon. "I love the feeling of clay running through my hands on a pottery wheel and the excitement of opening a kiln and seeing what is waiting there. I've always wanted to share this experience of making pottery with others." Fallon has launched a crowd-funding campaign for The Brookwood Pottery Project to kit out her garage to create an open-access pottery workshop so that others can learn how to work with clay, throw pots and tap into the creativity of pottery. Their target is €15k and the campaign runs until Tuesday, August 1st. Rewards for supporting this project include ceramic jewellery, tote bags, children's pottery workshops and an introductory pottery session with cake. "We hope to form a community of makers who love clay and want to learn and improve," says Fallon, "and are eager to share what we know as professional potters with you." brookwoodpottery.com
