“Better than FXB’s, and even better than Casanis.” Praise indeed for Aldi’s Specially Selected Irish Angus fillet steaks, which according to my beef-loving 15-year-old trumped even his Irish favourite, as well as the bistro we visit occasionally for steak frites and sauce Bearnaise.
Aldi’s 14-day maturation on the bone, and an extra-thick cut, made for a tender, flavoursome steak, at a good price – €12.99 for two generous-sized steaks (400g). Aldi’s Specially Selected Irish Angus range also includes burgers stuffed with Dubliner cheese (€2.59 for two; 280g).
