Yeats gets it in the neck

This scarf with the Jack Yeats painting, The Whistle of a Jacket ( 95cm x 95cm on silk twill, digitally printed in Italy), is from Art on Fashion, a clothing line founded by northerner Celine Magill and part of a collection that also includes That We May Never Meet Again, a more abstract Yeats. The Whistle of a Jacket was sold for £1.4 million in 2001 at Christies; the other painting is currently the property of the York Museum Trust. "It's a wearable piece of art" says Magill. The market for scarves worldwide is huge – according to Magill, one is sold every 20 seconds. She is now looking at Middle East markets and researching Islamic art for ideas. See artonfashion.com
