A Garda investigation is under way after a prison officer was assaulted in Mountjoy Prison in Dublin.
Gardaí said the officer is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the nearby Mater Hospital.
In a statement gardaí said that investigations are ongoing.
Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan in a post on X said he was “extremely concerned” to hear that the officer was assaulted.

Minister O’Callaghan added: ”I wish him a full recovery and can assure people that this serious criminal offence will be investigated thoroughly so that justice will be done."
