Pedestrian and cyclist seriously injured in separate crashes

Gardaí have asked anyone who may have witnessed the two incidents to come forward

A pedestrian and a cyclist have been left with serious injuries in Co Waterford and Co Wexford road crashes.

The pedestrian aged in his 70s is being treated following a crash with an SUV on the N25 at Kinsalebeg in Waterford at approximately 10.15am on Thursday morning.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene from where the injured man was taken to Cork University Hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Diversions remained in place on Thursday evening to allow for the completion of a technical examination of the scene.

Gardaí have asked that anyone who may have witnessed this incident come forward and for road users on the N25 between Dungarvan and Youghal between 10am and 10.30am with camera footage to make it available.

Meanwhile, witnesses are being sought to a separate incident in which a cyclist was left with serious injuries following a crash with a van on Wednesday.

That incident occurred at approximately 5:45pm on the N25 at Holmestown, Co Wexford.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of the crash which required the cyclist, a man in his 50s, to be taken to Wexford General Hospital.

He was treated for injuries which are understood to be serious. No other injuries were reported.

The scene was preserved for a technical examination which caused the road to be closed for a period of time.

Gardaí have asked anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. They are also appealing to road users who were travelling on the N25 in the Holmestown area between 5.30pm and 6.00pm, who may have with camera footage, to make it available to them.
