Gardaí have appealed for witnesses elderly man died after he fell from his mobility scooter in Kinsale, Co Cork.
The man, named locally as Liam Dyer, fell from his mobility scooter at the junction of Cork Street and Friar Street at 9.30am on Sunday.
The emergency services were alerted and attended at the scene before Mr Dyer, who was in his mid 80s, was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
A postmortem examination will be held on Mr Dyer’s body. Forensic crash investigators have also carried out an examination of the scene.

A native of Co Tipperary, Mr Dyer, moved to Kinsale where he worked as a tailor for over 50 years and he lived on Barrack Street with his late wife, Joan and their family.
Mr Dyer, who lost his wife just under two years ago, is survived by his sons, Liam and Teddy and his daughters, Sheila and Fiona as well as his six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
