Slow cooked ham with hot honey and mustard aioli

Serves: 6
Course: Lunch, Dinner
Cooking Time: 8 hrs
Prep Time: 10 mins
Ingredients
  • 1.2kg smoked ham fillet
  • 2 apples, cut into wedges
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 2 tbsp hot honey
  • For the aioli:
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard
  • Squeeze of lemon juice
  • To serve: Green salad, boiled new potatoes, carrots
  1. Place the ham in your slow cooker and add the apple and cloves. Top up with water, place the lid on and cook on low for 6-8 hours. The longer you cook it, the easier it will shred, like pulled pork.
  2. Carefully remove the ham from the cooking water. Remove any excess fat on top. Shred the meat using two forks. Place in an ovenproof dish. Drizzle with the hot honey and pop into a hot oven, 200 degrees, for 10 minutes, to crisp up a little.
  3. Meanwhile, mix the mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice and mustards together. Serve with the ham, potatoes, carrots and salad.
