Irish Open
The Irish Open takes place at Fota Island Resort in Cork this weekend, running from 19-22 June. Last year’s winner, Paul Casey, returns alongside Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell, Pádraig Harrington and Darren Clarke. The weekend’s tournament also features a crazy trouser day, a purpose built food festival and an array of bars and shops for all visitors. Fota island is situated just 20 minutes from Cork city centre and is hosting the golf event for the first time since 2002.
Advance online booking is closed but tickets are available on the day.
Adult season ticket: €80, Day ticket: €35. Children under 15 years enter for free.

Cork Midsummer Festival
The Cork Midsummer Festival kicks off this weekend with a programme of dance, theatre, opera, music, visual arts and outdoor arts events. The line-up on Saturday includes a performance from Der Vampyr, a cast of international singers and local chorus transformed into a vampire ensemble, while Sunday will celebrate citizenship, community and creativity through the Cork City Council Picnic in the Park.

Dalkey Book Festival
This year’s Dalkey Book Festival presents an impressive line-up of writers with talks from Salman Rushdie, Joseph O’Connor, Robert Fisk, Alison Jameson, John Banville, Olivia O’Leary and Sebastian Barry. On Saturday night there will be entertainment from David O’Doherty in The Festival Marque , with a closing act from the Apres Match boys on Sunday evening. The festival runs from 19-22 June in south Dublin.

dalkeybookfestival.org Body and Soul
The Body and Soul festival celebrates its fifth year this weekend with a masquerade ball, a summer solstice party and an impressive musical line-up. Some 8,500 festival goers will descend on the 17th-century Ballinlough Castle in Co Meath this weekend to catch performances from Caribou, Jape, John Grant, Goldfrapp and many others. The festival has 11 stages, including two main stages, a Decadent Dining tent, a Soul Kids area and a Good Time comedy lounge.
Weekend tickets are sold out but there are some tickets left for Sunday at €55.
