Trinity College Dublin was the big winner at the 13th Student Media Awards held in Dublin last night.
The award for newspaper of the year, sponsored by The Irish Times and judged by features editor of The Irish Times , Conor Goodman, went to Trinity News from Trinity College.
The layout and design category, judged by Liam Ryan, the production and design editor of The Irish Times , went to Dargan Crowley Long of Trinity News .
Tommy Gavin of Trinity won the journalist of the year award, while Ray Hegarty of Griffith College Dublin was named photographer of the year.
Editor of the year was awarded to Emer Sugrue and Aoife Valentine of University College Dublin for their work on the University Observer .
Trinity College also emerged with awards for web design, blog, magazine, colour writer, news and politics, and feature writer.
Griffith College, Dublin City University and Dublin Institute of Technology won four awards each.
Other winners included the National University of Galway, University of Limerick,UCC, National University Maynooth, Queen’s University and Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design.
