The Late Late Toy Show was the most watched programme on RTÉ in 2013.
Ryan Tubridy’s annual Christmas special was seen by 1,547,000 viewers, making it not only the most watched show of 2013 but the most viewed Toy Show of all time.
Home produced Irish drama Love/Hate ranked second on the list of the Top 20 shows on RTÉ last year. Some 1,117,000 viwers tuned in to the much anticipated season finale of Stuart Carolan’s gangland show.
The episode saw Fran suffocating Andrew the dodgy dentist and Tommy collapsing outside a warehouse as Nidge and the gang awaited their drug shipment’s arrival.
In the third spot, 1,064,000 viewers tuned in to see Dublin beat Mayo by one point in The Sunday Game Live All Ireland Senior Football Final.
Despite dividing the critics, Mrs Brown’s Boys claimed fourth and fifth place on the list. The season finale shown in February attracted 1,03000 viewers while the Mrs Brown’s Boys Buckin’ Mammy Christmas Special attracted 913,000 viewers.
Coverage of the All Ireland Senior Hurling Final (Clare v Cork) was in sixth place with over 889,000 viewers, while the subsequent replay on The Saturday Game Live was at number nineteen with 638,000 viewers.
The annual Eurovision Song Contest was the seventh most watched show despite Irish act Ryan Dolan finishing last in the competition.
RTE’s Nine O’clock News bulletin on January 20th was the eight most viewed when 724,000 viewers tuned in to see reports on Barack Obama’s inauguration and Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s admission that he was subjected to personal abuse d.
The Voice of Ireland,the talent show presented by Kathryn Thomas was the ninth most viewed show with 759, 700 viewers.
RTÉ Two’s coverage of RBS 6 Nations Rugby (Ireland v England) came in at number 11, with over 719,000 viewers tuning in. The World Cup 2014 Qualifier (Ireland v Austria) was in twentieth place with just under 630,000 people watching Ireland draw with Austria.
The Rose of Tralee which featured a marriage proposal and presenter Daithi O’Se kiss a fish was in 16th place with 669, 700 viewers.
