Readers from Dublin 6 may (if they're over a certain age) remember that the area once boasted two of the most distinctive cinemas in the city: the Stella in Rathmines and the Classic in Harold's Cross. Since the Classic – home to The Rocky Horror Picture Showfor four centuries – closed six years ago, the locale has been without a movie house, but that is set to change in November when Omniplex, Ireland's largest cinema group, will open a spanking three-screen complex in Rathmines' Swan Centre.
The press release announcing the arrival of Swan Cinemas contains one particularly cheering phrase. "Programming policy will cater largely for mainstream movies. However, digital facilities will allow for more diverse and varied programming, considering the population mix within the Rathmines and wider Dublin 6 area." Does this mean they'll cater for the Rocky Horrorcommunity?
