CORK:The annual West Cork Literary Festival is under way this week with readings, workshops and literary events, in the picturesque setting of Bantry. Highlights include Paul Muldoon, Sir Michael Parkinson and Anita Shreve. westcorkmusic.ie

A seminar exploring the relationship between the visual arts and science is on at 5.30pm today in the lecture room of Imma on Earlsfort Terrace. Participants include Dorothy Cross (below), Siân Ede, Michael John Gorman and Mick Wilson. Admission is free but you need to book online at imma.ie

SLIGO

A singing camp for young people starts today at the Hawk's Well Theatre and runs every morning at 10am. It ends on Friday and costs €80 for the week. The tutor is Jim Maley from the Choral Academy. hawkswell.com

The Percy French Festival and School opens today at Castlecoote House, with the keynote address to be given by President Michael D Higgins. A daily rate to attend the lectures and talks is €30, while admission to all events is €99. percyfrench.ie

The seventh annual Boley Fair runs until tomorrow and is focused on rural skills and pastimes. Expect mobile farms, blacksmiths, sheep clipping and rope twisting. It all takes place in and around Hilltown. boleyfair.com

TIPPERARY

The Clonmel Junction Festival presents the Irish premiere of Swamp Juice, an acclaimed Canadian puppet show. It's at the White Memorial Theatre at 7pm tonight, (tickets €12) and the festival continues until July 15th. junctionfestival.com
