After circling around Cow's Lane and Fishamble Street for 20 minutes, the elusive Scarlet Row reveals itself to be a short strip of shops at the Christ Church end of Essex Street. The small salon at number two is the stage for Anu's Thirteen production.

"The shop isn't open today," we are told, and so begins this fly-on-the-wall take of a business gone bust. Despite the crackling energy of its two characters - the salon's owner and her only remaining employee - and excellent use of a sheer curtain over the salon window to extend the "stage" on to the street, Backwash reveals nothing much that we didn't know already.
