Broadcaster Pat Kenny is to receive a lifetime achievement award from the Irish Film & Television Academy (Ifta).
In a statement, Ifta said Kenny was to be honoured for his “lifetime body of work” in television and for his “superb and distinguished contribution” to Irish broadcasting for almost five decades.
Ifta chief executive Áine Moriarty said Kenny had shown himself to be a “dedicated and passionate broadcaster”, as well as a “trusted and reliable voice” across news, current affairs and social issues.
Kenny said he was “truly honoured” to receive the award and “to be recognised by my peers in this way”.
Kenny will be presented with the accolade at Ifta’s Gala Television Awards on October 7th at the DoubleTree hotel in Dublin.
