It takes several listens to get your head around Zrazy's sixth album; is this jazz? Pop? Loungey electronica? Now in their 23rd year of existence, Maria Walsh and Carole Nelson have made a career out of being chameleons, but their sixth album both suffers and benefits from their ultra-eclecticism. The slinky, upbeat jazz-pop of You Make Me Happy is undeniably toe-tappy, and the inclusion of an electronic beat or undercurrent is mostly sympathetic to their habitually sultry arrangements. Still, they lose the run of themselves on the overlong Down With Jazz, while the dated, cheesy pop of Keep On Giving It does them a disservice. Nonetheless, the joyful expression of their diverse sound means they get the benefit of the doubt this time.
