This Italo-Irish trio sidle into the world with barely a whit of fanfare or fuss (apart from a low-flying crowdfunding campaign), and yet their debut bristles with plenty of originality. Minor chord progressions create dusky spaces in their song choices, and singer Consuelo Nerea Breschi inhabits a number of northern- rooted songs with a quiet confidence, making them all her own. The trio's reading of Do You Love an Apple? is a particular standout: a cap doffing to the Ní Dhomhnaill sisters and a nod in the direction of Sandy Denny. Fiddle, guitar and bouzouki fuel the trio's tune sets, and their fine-boned pair of marches (titled Pearl's Marches, in honour of fiddler and guitarist Eoghan O'Shaughnessy's fiddler/grand- mother, Pearl O'Shaughnessy) is a feast of strings. A low key, richly textured collection. facebook.com/morningtree.firenze
