Teeth of the Sea: Master

Few can match Teeth of the Sea in the epic sounds department. As with 2010's Your Mercury, the beauty of the London group's new album lies in watching them depart this cosmos for somewhere else entirely. On this heady, spooky, trippy album, Teeth of the Sea use synths, guitars and supersized barrels of percussion to create sheets of sound that occasionally sound a little psych here or a little Krautrock there, without ever quite settling into place. It's this restlessness, the inability or unwillingness to do what's expected of them, that invigorates what they do. Tracks such as the all-conquering All Human Is Error, Reaper and the truly shape- shifting and singular Black Strategy roar, snarl and stomp into view, almost daring you to go with them to the other side.
